Salmon Goggles Data Maker
I needed believable transactional data for demos. Random numbers were not good enough, so I built a little business world instead.
Why I built it
This generator creates synthetic sales data for a fictional wearable-tech company called Salmon Goggles.
The useful part was not merely producing rows. The data had behavior: product variants, accessories, wholesale and retail customers, costs and MSRP, discount classes, geography, seasonality, day-of-week effects, inventory, requisitions, backorders, shipping delays, and changing sales enthusiasm.
That meant a BI demo could contain patterns worth discovering instead of a thousand rows of arbitrary noise.
The original tool is preserved as it was written. It is an old internal/demo utility, not a current production data generator.
